Brand joined Wal-Mart in 1995 after serving over eleven years as a Field Artillery  Officer in the United States Army.  He began his new career as a District Loss Prevention Supervisor in the Supercenter Division in the state of New York.  Brand was soon promoted to the Loss Prevention Merchandise/Systems Coordinator position responsible for formulating corporate strategies to reduce shrinkage through merchandise repackagings, new systems enhancements and the like.  He was promoted to his current position as the Director of Asset Protection Systems and Analysis in January of 1998.  His current scope includes merchandise protection strategies, systems design/support, Six Sigma process improvement strategies and operational liaison efforts.  Brand serves on several committees and boards including the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) Asset Protection Steering Committee and the EPCglobal EAS/RFID joint requirements group.
